NZASIA's 17th Biennial International Conference was hosted by the University of Otago in November 2007 (see Conference pages). The next conference will be hosted by Victoria University of Wellington in 2009.

Welcome to NZASIA

The New Zealand Asian Studies Society (NZASIA) is a wholly independent body that since its establishment in 1974 has sought to encourage the spread of knowledge about Asia, its history, its culture and its role in international affairs.

Journal

The New Zealand Journal of Asian Studies is the NZASIA Society's journal, published twice yearly. The Journal pages list the contents of current and back issues, and include abstracts of articles in the last two issues.

Knowing Asia

Knowing Asia: The Challenge for New Zealand's Tertiary Education Sector was published by NZASIA in September 2004. It analyses the national survey of Asian Studies conducted in 2003, and makes a set of 23 proposals about how the study of Asia can be strengthened in New Zealand's universities and tertiary colleges.
